Art for Kids: Drawing: The Only Drawing Book You'll Ever Need to Be the Artist You've Always Wanted to Be by Kathryn Temple is I am 74 years old and decided I was going to learn to draw. So I bought this book. I am about 1/2 way through it and it is wonderful. There are so many things you begin to see with your artist eyes (though I am a bit visually impaired) lines, circles, rectangles, etc. So far I have drawn a fireplace, a vase, a cat and a dog. They are nowhere near perfect but I did it following each step presented in the book. Who knows I might be the next Van Gogh, or just the little old lady trying to draw.

They love it! They have produced amazing work by following the steps provided in here. They are always fighting over who will get to use it so I will probably be ordering several more copies!

It's actually so great I will most likely be practicing with it along with them. There are examples of drawing apples, cats, dogs, trees, people. She talks about light sources, shading, perspective, landscapes, & more. It's pretty challenging for my 7 & 10 year old but it's a great resource for them & it's a -good- challenge!

My first grader is particularly interested and advanced in art and drawing and this is slightly out of her league. She can do the lessons with a lot of guidance and a little frustration. I can imagine this book would be fantastic for a dedicated 3rd grader all the way up to an adult. I know I enjoyed the refresher on some of the concepts.
