Palmer,Morton Manus is Great book. Once my students reach the late beginner/early intermediate level I start having them work on these exercises. Fingerings are provided and print size is very good for students of all ages. There is useful information in the front of the book providing basic music theory related to the exercises. "Enrichment Options" in the back is great also. It makes practicing scales and broken chords a little more fun.

Palmer,Morton Manus is Bought this after watching a few You Tube lessons from a good teacher. My only complaint is the confusing SYNTAX used when constructing some explanatory sentences about "chord progression". I hope the author reads this as it took me 3 days to re-read some of the "Helpful Hints" and understand precisely what was meant. Otherwise, a fairly decent book for review & practice

Palmer,Morton Manus is Wowee. By the time I get through this book, I will know scales and play them with reasonable proficiency. I have played the accordion for years but always wanted to play the piano. Finally I bought one and, with the help of on-line classes, came to understand that although I knew the notes of the scales, I lacked in depth knowledge of playing them and had terrible technique. Hanon was not helping me overcome my weaknessesI needed a composite book of scale exercises and rudiments. This book provides it. It will take me months to become familiar with the exercises; however, in just reading the introductory theory, I have learned a great deal. The layout of the book shows me what to practice and has taught me what we all know to be true: it is not how fast you play the scales but how good your technique is.

Palmer,Morton Manus is I'm a piano teacher and was really glad to discover this book for my students. As an aside, it doesn't just have all the major and minor scales in octaves. It also has them in contrary motion, and in thirds and sixths. And the arpeggios aren't only for triads in root position. The arpeggios are also for triads in inversions, and seventh chords. Highly recommend this book.
